Hackathon-24

Empowering Change: Open Innovation for a Better Future!!

Hackathon-24 is an initiative implemented by TechPearl that serves as a platform for young women and girls to showcase their skills, collaborate on innovative projects, and gain valuable experience in the tech field. The goal is to provide a supportive environment that encourages learning, networking,
and professional growth. This event is particularly important as it addresses the gender gap in technology and promotes the inclusion of women in this rapidly evolving tech industry.

JUDGING CRITELIA

The judging process for Hackathon-24 was based on five key criteria, each rated on a scale from 1 to 10. These criteria were designed to assess the participants’ technical skills, creativity, and overall impact of their solutions: Together, these five sections helped ensure a comprehensive evaluation of each team’s project, balancing technical innovation with creativity, relevance, and presentation skills.

Technology:- This section focused on the engineering skills demonstrated by the participants and the quality of the final product. Judges evaluated how well the technology was implemented, its functionality, and the level of technical expertise required to create it.
Design:- The design aspect assessed the attention to aesthetics, user interaction, and the user interface. Judges considered the visual appeal of the project, how intuitive the design was for users, and how well the interface aligned with modern design principles.
Idea:-Judges evaluated how eff ectively the proposal addressed the problem statement and the overall theme of the hackathon. This section considered the relevance of the idea to real-world challenges and the originality of the proposed solution.
Presentation:-The clarity and eff ectiveness of both the written and oral presentations were assessed in this section. Judges looked for clear communication, well-organized ideas, and the ability to convey the project’s value in an engaging and understandable manner.
Inspiration:-This criterion measured how much the judges appreciated the idea and the excitement it generated. It considered the innovative spirit behind the project, its potential for impact, and the enthusiasm it inspired among the judges and audience.

THE BEST THREE INNOVATIONS DEVELOPED

EcoChampions (WINNERS)

This team tackled the critical challenge of waste management in Malawi by developing a solution that uses ultrasonic sensors to monitor waste levels in urban areas. This innovative solution aims to improve public health, safeguard the environment, and promote economic growth through more efficient waste management practices.

.

EduRoll (RUNNERS UP)

This education-focused team identified a key challenge in higher education: many students attend classes with the sole aim of passing exams rather than truly learning. To tackle this issue, they created Eduroll, a mobile app designed to track student attendance.

.

Smart City Tech (SECOND RUNNERS UP)

A Bluetooth-controlled smart lighting system was developed using an Arduino Uno. This innovative solution provides greater energy efficiency, advanced features, and customizable options compared to conventional light bulbs.
